Todd
Horton has been composing music for over
twenty years. Always seeking new ways to
connect his varied musical influences, his
writing stretches genre boundaries.
Whether writing for film, studio or live
performances, there is a pure and organic
quality to his compositions.
In 2007, Horton
composed the score for a documentary film by
Ed Pincus and Lucia
Small, entitled "The
Axe In The Attic", which had its world
premiere at the New York Film Festival. The
director's
desire for an unconventional scoring approach
posed new and difficult challenges to Horton;
to support the story and narrative without
imposing
how the audience should feel in any
way. Select clips
can be seen and heard below.
Much of Horton's writing
for his own groups is a blend
of Jazz, Rock, Funk and African music styles.
The list of mp3 samples below includes tracks
recorded on various albums where his original
music has appeared. Also included are
tracks from his library of "experimental" work
created in his project studio (labeled TH
